RENOVATED CHRIST THE KING CHURCH BLESSED AT KUSTAGI,KOPPAL
BELLARY,APR 07, 2024:

The renovated and extended Christ the King Church at Kustagi, Koppal district of Karnataka was blessed and rededicated on April7 th on Divine Mercy Sunday at 5.30 p.m., by the Bishop of Bellary, Most Rev. Henry D’Souza. It coincided with the Platinum jubilee year of the diocese of Bellary. A large number of devotees, Priests,and Religious witnessed the occasion. The Kustagi Mission was erected in the year 1995 by the late bishop of Bellary Most Rev. Joseph D’ Silva with Rev. Fr. Antony Fernandes as its first Parish Priest. The Christ the King Church was built and blessed on 1 st Feb., 1999.

As the church was small, especially during festivals and other holy days there wasn’tsufficient placefor the congregation to worship, the present parish priest, Fr.Sam Nalan, initiated the renovation and extension workin August 2023.

Bishop Henry, Bishop of Bellary appreciated the renovation and extensiondone with the generous contributionfrom Communio India and many donors, ledby the parish priest Fr. Parish Priest and Srs. of St.Ann’s Bangalore & the Parishioners. The parish children received the sacrament of Holy Communion & Confirmations at the occasion.

Rev. Fr. Sam Nalan, the Parish Priest thanked all the benefactors, donors particularly Communio India,and all those present. Solemn Holy Eucharist was celebrated and followed by fellowship to all the gathered community. “Bishop Henry reflected on the infinitive and the transformative mercy of God at the occasion” The Bishop insisted on the daily need of reading, meditating the Holy Bible, and praying together in the family and invited to do the same.
