A brief History of the Institution : BDDS is the official organ for Social Apostalate of Ballari Diocese. The organisation was established in 1985 by Bishop Most. Rev. Dr. Ambrose Yaddanapalli and continued under the patronage of Rev.Dr. Joseph D'silva and presently under the leadership of Rev.Dr. Henry D'souza, Bishop of Bellary. Late Fr.Santhan Quadras was the first Director and the organisation continued its service by the strenuous efforts of successive directors viz Rev.Fr. Denis Menezes, Rev.Fr.Cyril Joseph, Rev.Fr. Vincent Rodrigues, Rev. Fr.HeraldF.Pinto, Rev.Fr.Paulraj, Rev.Fr.Chourappa Y. and pressently Rev. Fr. Yagappa N. who have efficiently guided and worked with enthusiasm to achieve the goals of BDDS. In the beginning years, the organisation has served for the people of Gulbarga, Raichur and Ballari districts. On June 24, 2005 when Gulbarga Diocese was formed, the service of BDDS was reduced to 2 Districts. During 2005 the Government of Karnataka also formed new district Koppal, as a result BDDS extended the working area to Koppal district. Presently BDDS expends its service to Ballari, Raichur,Vijayanagara and Koppal districts.
