Fr. Aruliah Called To His Eternal Home

BELLARY, DEC.13, 2019: Fr. Aruliah (57), parish priest of Infant Jesus Church, Vidya Nagar, Raichur, passed away this afternoon. Fr. Aruliah died of a massive heart attack at about 12.45 PM at VIMS Medical College Hospital, Bellary, while undergoing dialysis treatment. He was suffering with acute diabetic mellitus and chronic kidney failure. Bishop Henry D’Souza, Fr. O. Vincent and Bishop’s House staff were at the hospital to attend to the medical formalities and then brought the mortal remains to Bethany Senior Priests’ Home, Bellary. Bishop Henry D’Souza presided over the concelebrated Holy Mass along with many priests in the Bethany chapel at 5.00 PM at 05.00 PM at Bethany.

Thereafter, the mortal remains of Fr Aruliah were brought to St. Anthony’s Cathedral Church, where it is kept for people to pay their respect. The funeral service will begin at 4.00 PM, Dec. 14 at the St. Anthony Cathedral Church, Cowl Bazaar, Bellary. The mortal remains will be buried at Cowl Bazaar Cemetery, Bellary. Fr. Aruliah was being treated at St. Mary’s Hospital, from where he was taken to VIMS for dialysis treatment. Fr. Arualiah was born on 28 Aug. 1962 to late Lucas and Teresa Naricetty in Sandamangalam, Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu.

He did his high school studies in Don Bosco Apostolic School, Pannur and graduation at Madras University. He had a diploma in Business Administration. He joined Sacred Heart Seminary, Poornamalai, in 1981 and was ordained priest on 13 April 1989 at Bellary along with his companions Frs. Paulraj, Bagavanth Raj, Paul Mark Moras, P.R. Augustine and Lourdraj Alapaty by Bishop Ambrose P. Yeddanapalli. Fr. Aruliah served as assistant parish priest at Jawalgera Farm (1990-91) and Asst. Financial Officer at Bishop’s House (1992-93).

He was a parish priest of Burma Camp (1993-94), Siruguppa (1994-99), K. Mariammanahalli (1999-2000), Fort (6 months), Sandur (2000-06), Sirwar (2006-09), Director of St. Martin’s Home (2009-14), Kampli (2014-15), Socius at BAM Shrine (2015-16) and Vidyanagar (2016-19). He has been serving as parish priest of Vidya Nagar, Raichur city till his death. Fr. Aruliah was a very soft spoken priest. A good friend of the poor and he loved children. While as parish priest of Sandur and Sirguppa, he worked hard to bring up the parishes. He also worked to build a new church building at Vidyanagar, which construction work is in progress. “Fr. Aruliah was a devoted and dedicated pastor who endeared himself to all. In his death the diocese has lost a good pastor”, said Bishop Henry D’Souza. He has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
