Over 300 Prisoners Treated Medically In Ballari Central Jail



BALLARI, AUG. 24, 2019: A free medical camp was held in the Bellary Central jail on August 24.

It was organized by the Diocesan Prison Ministry Team, CRI Ballari, Bellary Unit and Diocesan Health Commission.

A Medical team consisting of 7 doctors, 9 nurses and other lab technicians and volunteers conducted the camp enthusiastically.

Of over 550 inmates, 305 inmates, who included about 40 women, benefitted from the medical camp.

They were given health checkup and treated for various ailments free of cost.

The renowned doctors namely Dr. Ragavendra, Dr. Jaiprakash Reddy, Dr. Deepak, Dr. Ravi Krishna, Dr. Basava, Dr. Gnanaprakash, Dr. Sr. Nivedita SMMI, Dr. Solome together with others treated the inmates.

The team was lead by Frs. Ponnuswamy, Secretary, Diocesan Prison Ministry Ivan Pinto, Diocesan PRO, Sr. Catherine, Superior of St. Mary’s Hospital, along with the staff of the hospital helped.

In his introductory words, Fr. Ivan Pinto said, “Service to humanity is service to God” and such a service brings peace and harmony. He thanked the Jail Superintendent and his co-workers for their wiling cooperation.
