First House Of MC Brothers Opened In Ballari

BALLARI, MARCH 11: The newly built temporary residence of Missionaries of Charity Brothers was blessed by Bishop Henry D’Souza and opened by the Superior General Bro. Paul Eaton MC on March 11 in Bellary.

Located in Basavangunte, Devinagar, next to the Christian Cemetery on one side and Bellary Railway Station on the other, the new house is a simple and modest place of residence.

Bishop Henry D'Souza formally welcomed MC Brothers into the Diocese at a special Mass and reception held at 11.30 a.m.

"St. Teresa of Kolkata, a Nobel Laureate and a Bharat Ratna, worked tirelessly for the poor and the destitute till her death on September 5, 1997. She had visited Bellary twice, in 1967 at the invitation of Bishop Ambrose Yeddanapalli of happy memory to start the destitute home run by the Missionaries of Charity Sisters in Cantonment. The second time she come to inaugurate the Daya Kendra Rehabilitation Center for the persons with leprosy", recalled Bishop.

In his message, Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary said, "Let us live a life of dedication and devotion, with loving care to serve the poor and needy people. It would be a befitting tribute to Mother Teresa."

"Mother Teresa was able to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and Bharat Ratna through her service to the poor. The world has rewarded the gives, not the receivers", Bishop declared.

Bishop appreciated and lauded the services of the MC Sisters "who are serving the most vulnerable and the most deserving destitute and poor of the city."

MC Brothers Bros. Melvin MC and Clement MC were already living in Bellary for the past one year, temporarily residing at Bethany Senior Priests’ Home, while serving the male inmates in the MC Ashram and poor in the streets.

Bishop also blessed the foundation stone for the new house for the male destitute persons on the occasion.

The land in which the MC Brothers constructed the house was granted by Govt. of Mysore (Now Govt. of Karnataka) in recognition of the yeomen service of the MC sisters in and around Bellary.
