Feast of St. Joseph Celebrated With Solemnity In Bellary

Bishop Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary along with many priests of Bellary concelebrated Holy Eucharist at 5.30 pm in Bellary Arogya Mathe Shrine Church, on March 19, the solemnity of St. Joseph.

Large number of faithful participated.

Pope Francis has declared this year 2021 as the year of St. Joseph. It is in order to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. It is in this background the Solemn Holy Eucharist was organized. Prior to the Holy Eucharist, the statue of St. Joseph was blessed and was taken in procession in the Shrine premises in honour of St. Joseph.

In his homily, the Bishop said how St. Joseph endured with strength the anguish of the pregnancy of the Blessed Mary his spouse and chose a course of action that was most honourable to her. Also how he bore courageously the responsibility of protecting the mother and child entrusted to his fostering care from Herod’s evil designs.

Bishop urged all parents, guardians, leaders to boldly shoulder their responsibility in order to fruitfully fulfill the tasks entrusted to them.

The event was jointly organized by the Bellary Deanery, St. Joseph’s Group of Educational Institutions – St. Joseph’s Boys School, St. Joseph’s Girls School and St. Joseph’s Co-ed School and the BAM Shrine.

Bishop announced that the churches dedicated to St. Joseph in TB Dam, Jawelgera Farm Church and Bellary Arogya Mathe Shrine would be the pilgrimage centers for the year of St. Joseph.
