THOUSANDS REJOICE OVER THE DEDICATION OF THE RENOVATED SACRED HEART CHURCH AT MUDGAL.
SHAKTINAGAR,RAICHUR Apr 21, 2024:

MUDGAL, RAICHUR, APRIL 22,2024: Thousands witnessed the opening and dedication of the renovated and extended Sacred Heart church at Mudgal, Raichur District with great rejoicing.

The inauguration ceremony commenced at 10 a.m. on 22 nd April, 2024. Archbishop Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore solemnly blessed and dedicated the Church in Mudgal town.

Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary blessed the flag post of the church. Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo, Vicar General of the Gulbarga diocese blessed the bell tower. A large number of priests, religious, lay faithful, and well-wishers enthusiastically and joyfully participated in the ceremony.

Mudgal’s Church is one of the oldest catholic mission centers in the interior Karnataka since 1500’s. The present church building was completed by Fr. Sylvester Goldrick OFM and renovated and modified by Fr. Chowrappa Y in 2007. The Major renovation and extension were initiated by the then Parish Priest Fr. Danappa M in the year 2017 and completed in 2024.

The Government of Karnataka through the Christian Development Council and other benefactors, local parishioner’s well-wishers supported this major noble project.

In his homily, Bishop D’Souza said, “This church though it is a house built by human hands, yet it will be a place that would proclaim the initiative of the One who alone builds the house, and deigns to live among his beloved people.” “All Christians be aware that they are the living stones need to be aware of their sacred call to live a life of holiness, living a life proper to the disciples of Jesus, thus contributing to the renewal and revitalization of the Church – transforming it into a more vibrant and a living community, added Bishop. “In the majesty of church’s building is a symbol of the spiritual temple that is built up in souls, resplendent with the glory of divine grace” reminded Bishop. Bishop also recalled with gratitude the service of the pioneers, particularly the Goan missionaries, Fr. Patrick Doyle, Mill Hill Missionaries, Franciscans, and all the Priests who in served in this parish.

Fr. Danappa, former parish priest gratefully acknowledged the donors and benefactors in constructing the renovated church. Bishop Henry appreciated and thanked Fr. Danappa for his effective pastoral leadership and the local parish council members for their dedicated service.

The solemn event began with a procession at 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist , felicitation and ended with a sumptuous meal.
