Srs Punitha & Mary SCC Make Perpetual Profession at Laxminagar Camp

Laxinagar Camp, Ballari, 07 May 2025: Srs. Punitha Ragendrappa and Mary Deshappa , both native of Mudgal village and a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanad, made her final profession of perpetual vows during a solemn Eucharistic celebration held on May 07, 2025, at the Holy Cross Convent in Laxminagar Camp, Bellary.

A good number of sisters of SCC and other Congregations, priests, religious, family members and parishioners attended the Holy Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Henry D Souza, Bishop of Bellary.

After making their profession, Bishop Henry , in his address, encouraged Srs Mary and Punitha and all those present, to follow Christ steadily and closely in their own calling and commitment. He also appealed to parents present to be generous in dedicating their best and first fruits (children) to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. Quoting from the scripture the bishop said “The jar of meal will not run out and the bottle of oil will not become empty” God kept his promise, fulfilled to the letter, exactly as Elijah had prophesied!” said the Bishop at the occasion.

During the Holy Eucharist, the Bishop presented Sr. Punitha and Sr Mary with a ring as a sign of their perpetual commitment to God. He emphasized the sacredness of perpetual vows and the call to live a life of humility, grace, and selfless love. The bishop expressed his gratitude for the services rendered by the communities of Religious, thus exhibiting their identity as followers of Christ. He also appealed to them to be more approachable and communicative towards the people around them.

Sr. Elsy George, the Provincial, welcomed both the Sisters into the community of perpetually professed sisters. She encouraged them to uphold the congregation’s mission with fidelity, love, and unity, rooted in the teachings of its founder.

The ceremony concluded with short felicitation program followed by a fellowship meal.
