Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary, celebrates his Sacerdotal golden jubilee with the destitute and poor:

Ballari, MAY 05, 2026.

Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary, marked his Sacerdotal golden jubilee with the destitute and poor at Mother Teresa Destitute Home, Cantonment, Ballari. The jubilee celebrations climaxed with a Solemn Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration on 5th May at 7.00 a. m. attended by a number of priests from the diocese. A significant number of Religious, Brothers and bishop’s special friends which included the poor and destitute participated in the celebration.

During the homily, Bishop Henry, expressed that priesthood is a profound gift that God has grants to those whom He has chosen to be with Him and to build His kingdom. This remarkable gift is expressed through the testimony of faith and the dedicated service rendered with steadfast commitment to the people of God.

Bishop Henry gratefully acknowledged the Grace of God all through these fifty years and all those who supported him throughout his priestly life and 18 years of episcopal ministry in the diocese of Bellary and the Universal Church.

Fr. Gnanprakasam T, the Chancellor of the diocese, highlighted the dedicated Shepherding ministry of our esteemed Bishop to, the faith community, and service to the poor and needy. The Bishop also fondly remembered his beloved parents, Shri Stephen D’Souza and Magdaline D’Souza, along with other family members who dedicated their son to the service of the Church.

Fr O. Vincent, the Vicar General of the diocese, thanked the bishop for his unwavering commitment in the service of Bellary Diocese.

Diocese of Bellary has planned to organise an official celebration of Bishop Henry’s Sacerdotal golden jubilee on the 12th June, 2026, the day of Bishop’s Episcopal Ordination at St Antony’s Cathedral Church, Cowl Bazaar, Ballari.
