“Guanellian Sisters Convent” blessed at Gurugunta:

Gurugunta, Raichur: 09 SEPT. 2026.

Bishop Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary blessed the newly built Guanellian Sisters Convent at 11.00 a.m., Wednesday, September 09, 2026 at Gurugunta of Raichur district, Karnataka.

The Guanellian Sisters had already taken up temporary residence in Gurugunta. Srs. Prabha, Juliet and Nirmala have been serving in this Mission since June 2024.

The Sisters presence has been gradually bringing about a transformation among school children. It was also the birthday of Bishop Henry D’Souza. The school children of Mount Carmel School, Gurugunta presented a brief felicitation program on the occasion.

The Holy Eucharistic concelebration presided over by the Bishop of Bellary followed the blessing. On that occasion, Bishop Henry fondly recalled the contribution Mount Carmel School in Gurugunta has been making not only provides quality education but promotes peace and harmony among the people of Gurugunta Town and its surrounding villages.

The bishop recalled with gratitude POPF, the Diocese of Bellary and local donors who made Guanellian Convent building a reality in Gurugunta. He appreciated the initiative and hard work put in by the Parish Priests of Gurugunta and particularly Fr Kennedy Fernandez, the present Parish Priest, Fr Ivan Pinto, Diocesan Finance Officer and the Diocesan Administration, Engineer Balaswamy, Contractor Murugan, Gurugunta and others who were part of the construction of Convent at Gurugunta. On that occasion, the Bishop requested the collaboration of everyone to develop Gurugunta and particularly Mount Carmel School.

The program concluded with a fellowship meal.
