Ecumenical Christmas Get-together Held at Ballari
BALLARI, 8 DEC. 2022:



Prominent leaders of the Christian communities – priests, pastors and congregation leaders of the Bellary district jointly celebrated Christmas at St. Anthony’s Pastoral Centre on Dec. 8.

The ecumenical meet was organized by the Catholic Association – Ballari, United Christian Forum and the Ecumenical Commission of Bellary Diocese.

About 100 pastors , priests participated in the meet.

Bishop Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary gave clarion call to shed religious prejudices, uphold the basic human right to profess ones religion freely thus build bridges of peace and harmony in the society.

He urged all priests and pastors to be aware of the recently enacted draconian law called Protection of Religious Freedom Act (Anti Conversion Law) and it’s serious implications. The law is against basic human rights and is immoral in nature. However as responsible citizens, all need to respect it.

All the pastors, priests and leaders committed themselves to serve the people inspite of multiple challenges and promote justice and peace and fight for the preservation of our rights as citizens.

Bishop Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary is the President of Ecumenical United Christian Forum for the Northern Karnataka Region, presided over the function.

Fr Ivan Pinto, Dean, Bellary Deanery gave the introductory words. Rev. John Mark, AG Church, Bellary and Rev. Prabhakar Rao, Good Samaritan Church, Moka, are the Secretary and Treasurer of the UCF Bellary unit.
