Diocesan Pastoral Council elects its New Office Bearers Bellary :20 OCT. 2025

Diocesan Pastoral Council Meeting was held at the Bishop’s House, Bellary on 20 th October, 2025. 40 members attended the meeting. On completion of their term, new Office bearers were elected. Mr Mallappa was elected Second Vice President of the Council. Ms. Elizabeth Mary of Bandihatti parish and Mr. Subash were elected as Secretary and Joint Secretary. As per the statutes, Bishop is the President of the Council and Vicar General is the ex-officio first Vice President.

In the inaugural message by the Bishop, he stated,” “Pastoral Council is a consultative structure that is intended to provide leadership. Its purpose is to assist in fostering pastoral activities.” The bishop added. “In the year of theJubilee of Hope, we need to make a renewed effort to ensure lay people are aware of their role and responsibility in the church and they exercise it.”

Fr Paul Raj, the Coordinator of the Diocesan Commissions briefedthe participants about the activities of the diocesan commissions. Mr. Mallappa Anthargangi and Mr Mariappa, Sindhanur briefed about the Christian Development Commission, Govt. of Karnataka’s various schemes available for the Christian Community and urged them to make the right use of it.

At the general discussion session the matters discussed were
• Diocesan – Deanery – parish level Jubilee 2025
• Elections to Local Bodies 2026
• Think Tank program
• Availing CDC schemes
Ms Sheela Das, Fort and Y.Joseph, Cantonment of Ballari led the gathering in prayer while Fr Vincent O., Vicar general thanked all those present. With a sumptuous meal, the meeting came to an end.
