HUTTI, RAICHUR, NOV 24 (Fr. Gnanam): St. Ann’s School, Hutti Gold Mines, having completed 50 years of dedicated service, celebrated golden jubilee here on Nov. 30 with due solemnity.
The school with over 1,000 students, run by the Sisters of St. Ann of Providence was begun to reach out to “the little ones and the poor” of Hutti town and its neighborhood.
In his homily at the thanksgiving Eucharist, Bishop of Bellary declared: “Education today should enable children to discover the truth about human life and live in dignity and freedom”.
Quoting UNESCO directives, Bishop said: “Education in the 21st century must provide four types of enablement – how to learn, how to do, how to be and how to live in harmony”.
“True education enables human persons to appreciate the divine call to live as God’s children, in dignity, freedom and mutual fellowship” added Bishop.
Sr. Leera Lobo, superior of the St. Ann’s Convent in Hutti, in her introduction stated “Life is a journey; the path we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination. It has been indeed a long and enriching journey of 50 years”.
“God loves a cheerful giver. As we celebrate this life journey, the solid 50 years of success and achievement of our mission, we offer them at the feet of the Lord and say like good stewards that we have done our duty”, she added.
During the function followed the Holy Mass, the school management fondly remembered the cheerful, delightful and dedicated sisters who toiled under the patronage of St. Ann to enlighten the young minds and form their character by inculcating in them the gospel values and making them capable and responsible citizens of our nation”.
