BELLARY, SEP 28: The newly built extension of the St. Antony’s Community Centre was inaugurated and blessed by Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary at 10.30 am today.
Speaking on the occasion the Bishop thanked and appreciated the work done by the Director Fr. M. S. Irudayaraj, the Engineer Mr. Benjamin, and the workers.
In his short message, Bishop D’Souza urged all to make the Catholic institutions “people-friendly and welcoming”.
“The St. Anthony’s Community Centre which is the pastoral centre of the diocese, is the heart of the diocese. It should contribute to fostering better and qualitative Christian life, helping the pastoral clergy in their pastoral work and promoting faith formation of Catholics”, Bishop added.
“As the disheartened disciples of Emmaus met the Risen Lord on their journey, Christian faithful should be sensitized to recognize the Lord accompanying them in their daily life and leading them to greater communion”, stated Bishop D’Souza.
Later, Fr. M. S. Irudayaraj, Fr. Chowrappa (VG), Fr. Yagappa, Ms. Suguntha and Mr. Guru Mathew were honoured for their service.
Many Bellary deanery priests and sisters, the staff and students of St. Antony’s Centre attended the programme.
The new extension has 4 rooms in the ground floor and another 4 on the first floor.

The Shrine of Bellary Arogya Mathe was blessed and dedicated on 8th September 2000 on the feast of the Nativity of our Blessed Mother Mary in memory of the great jubilee 2000 and the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of Bellary
