BELLARY, JAN 15: Seminarians of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary held a ten-day “village experience“ camp at Hirenaganoor in Bellary diocese.
Fourteen students of theology held a ten-day camp for a “live-in experience in the village helping the recent flood/rain affected people.
The camp concluded with public function presided over by Bishop of Bellary on Jan. 14. Bishop D’Souza lauded the work done by the seminarians in such a short time and wished them well in their pursuit of priesthood.
“The seminarians coming from Jharkhand, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka, worked with the villagers in keeping the village clean and helped those whose houses were lost to prepare to rebuild the them,” said local parish priest, Fr. Gnanaprakash.
“The seminarians gelled well with the village folk and galvanized them to work in a collaborative style”, said the seminary staff coordinator of the camp, Fr. Simon Pinto.
“The brothers were friendly, hardworking and zealous in their work”, noted local leader Peter.
The camp schedule included visits to families, motivation of the villagers on social themes, prayer sessions and some manual work,” said Brother Chinnappa.
“The ten days were memorable ones. The people of Hirenaganoor and the local parish priest were indeed helpful and friendly”, stated Brother Chowrappa.
