BELLARY, NOV. 10: Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza launched the Diocesan Diamond Jubilee chariot today at the St. Anthony’s Cathedral Bellary. The jubilee chariot will tour the entire diocese.
“The jubilee chariot is intended to revitalize and renew the faith-life of all the Catholic faithful in the diocese”, said Bishop D’Souza. Rehabilitation of the flood victims is a top priority for the diocese. However, the occasion of the diocese's Diamond Jubilee is a privileged moment of grace and an opportunity to revitalize Christian life in the diocese", he added.
The launching of the chariot was preceded by the Holy Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Vicar General, Fr. Chowrappa.
The decorated chariot carries a large size cross mounted on a jeep, which is accompanied by two priests. The programme is being coordinated by Fr. Jose Prakash. The Rath will be welcomed at the local church gate, the procession will move to the church where there will be a prayer service, a penitential rite, prayer for anointing by the Holy Spirit, benediction etc.
Diamond Jubilee Finale
It will be celebrated on Jan. 03, 2010 at Bellary. All the Diocesan Pastors, the Religious and the Lay Faithful are invited to participate in the solemn thanksgiving Eucharist which will be held at 4.00 PM at the Arogya Mathe Shrine, Bellary. Cardinal Telesphore Toppo will lead the celebrations and Archbishop Bernard Moras will preside over the thanksgiving Eucharist.
The evening celebration will include the Thanksgiving Eucharist, blessing of grottoes of the mysteries of the Holy Rosary, a short procession, a benediction and a presentation on the growth of the Catholic Church in Bellary.
Animation “to grow, to share and to look ahead”
A full day animation session will be held on the Diamond Jubilee Day for all the Pastoral Clergy, the Religious and the members of the Parish Pastoral Councils.
Follow up in Parishes and Institutions
All the parishes and institutions in the Diocese thereafter will hold similar programmes locally to “deepen, to grow and to share the Catholic faith”. The respective parish Pastoral Councils will take responsibility to organize the same.
The theme of the jubilee year is, “Called to Live, to Grow and to Witness” to the Catholic faith.
