BELLARY, OCT. 31: School children of Carmel High School and St Anthony’s School, Bangalore distributed relief material such as books and clothing to two hundred thirty people in Bangari Camp, Raichur district on Nov. 1.
Students of the schools run by the Sisters of Apostolic Carmel accompanied by their teachers visited the flood affected Bangari Camp, near Sindhanur town with books, clothing and stationery articles for the flood affected people.
Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza and local leaders were present on the occasion. Bishop D'Souza lauded the initiative taken by the Superior General of the Apostolic Carmel Sr. Agatha Mary, AC and the Sisters of the congregation. He thanked the students for their "generosity and for taking great troubles to show solidarity with the less fortunate victims of the recent floods".
Sr. Maria Priya of Carmel High School, Jayanagar, Sr. Jyostna and Sr Maria Sevika of St Anthony’s School, Sr. Maria Sadhana of Carmel Primary School, Sr. Clarice of Sacred Heart D. Ed College and Sr Maria Lila of Mary Immaculate School, Wilson Garden accompanied the students.
The student leaders included: Robert Kennedy, Ramesh, Arun Joy, Vinod Kumar, Raju, Swetha K., Steffi, Sweena, Caroline Jennifer and Shanthi G. Nayak.
The villagers expressed their great joy in meeting the teenagers from Bangalore and thanked them for their generosity.
