Id Milad: Religious Leaders Should Lead By Example
BELLARY, SEP. 26: “In a world with multiple challenges, religious leaders should lead by example. They should exemplify the religious ideals they represent,” declared Bishop Henry D’Souza here on Sep. 26.
Addressing an inter-religious meet organized by the Jamaat Islami Hind and the associate organizations of Bellary to mark Eid, Bishop D’Souza urged leaders of all religious to “lead from the front, by becoming role models”.
The function was held at the Raghava Kala Mandir, Anantapur Road, Bellary.
“The dark clouds of mistrust and aggressive posturing, even violent acts are promoted by leaders calling themselves religious leaders, the social fabric gets torn apart and social divide widens”, opined the Bishop.
“In such a situation, religious leaders should act boldly and decisively, urging their followers to desist from all sorts of violence and take recourse to amicable dialogue”, Bishop added.
“India is characterized by its religio-cultural diversity. That should be respected and upheld by one and all”, stated the Bishop.
“India is large enough to accommodate all. There is place for all sorts of believers and practitioners. No one need to feel threatened by anybody. Social amity based on mutual trust and respect will bring rich dividends of progress and national unity”, affirmed the Bishop.
Swami Kalyana of Kalana Swamy Mutt, Janab Shmeenuddin Hyder, Dr. Fuszia and Ms. Susheela Shiroor were also present and felicitated the audience.
