BANGALORE, SEP. 12: The Catholic Bishops of Karnataka mulled over the implementation of the Regional Pastoral Plan at their meeting held Sep. 10-11 at St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore.
Eleven Catholic Bishops and about twenty secretaries and Joint Secretaries of the Regional Commissions took stock of the implementation of the Regional Pastoral Plan through the 16 commissions of the Region.
President of the Council, Archbishop Bernard Moras presided over the deliberations.
The Regional Commissions such as Bible, Catechetics and Liturgy, Family, Laity, Youth, Women, Education, Social Communications, Development, Health, Labour etc. presented their annual reports and plans for the year ahead.
The meeting laid emphasis on the need of greater effort for faith formation, strengthening Small Christian Communities, inter-religious dialogue and consolidating the United Christian Forum for Human Rights.
It was suggested to streamline the communication channels for better communication and flow of information, both internally and externally.
Also, it was suggested to actively involve in strengthening the civil society and work for national integration and social amity.
