BELLARY, SEP. 08: “Teachers should put dreams of a new world in young minds through educations”, declared Bellary Bishop Henry D’Souza.
“Teachers are in a unique position. All students who would excel in different walk of life – be it science, social work, arts, literature or politics, pass through their classrooms. Hence, teachers should be able to plant creative and imaginative dreams in the minds of their students”, observed Bishop D’Souza.
Bishop D’Souza was addressing a gathering of over 325 teachers from all the Catholic managements of education, who had gathered to celebrate Teachers’ Day on Sep. 9, at Kroot Memorial Auditorium, Bellary.
“Teachers also need to sensitize the young students to the need of upholding human rights and promoting a culture of tolerance in the society”, asserted the Bishop.
“Learning to respect people of all faiths, languages and ethnicities is the need of the hour”, stated Bishop D’Souza.
Teachers’ representatives from different schools shared their impressions about the challenges of education today.
The Bellary District Acting Deputy Director of Education Mr. AJ Anthony was the chief guest at the function.
Fr. Arokianathan, Secretary of the Bellary Diocese Board of Education and Mr. Siddhalingappa animated the programme.
