Ecumenical Christmas celebrated; “Promote universal human fraternity”, urges Bishop of Bellary
BELLARY, 14 DEC 2023:

"Christmas is a universal, world-wide celebration. It embraces all cultures and all age groups – young and old. Divine love embraces all unconditionally. Therefore, all pastors, the religious and Christians need to strive to promote universal fraternity and goodwill", urged Bishop Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary.

Bishop Henry D’Souza was addressing priests and pastorals of various religious denominations gathered to celebrate Christmas on Dec 14 at St Anthony Pastoral Centre, Bellary.

"God loved the WORLD, not merely Christians, as stated in the Gospel according to St John: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life' (Jn 3:16) reminded the Bishop.

"In the incarnate God who became flesh, God is unfolding his plan to 'create a new heaven and a new earth'. 'And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth' (Ep[h 1:10)'" stated Bishop Henry D'Souza.

Insisting on the need of promotion of ecumenism among the various Christian denominations, shedding mutual mistrust, "In India all Christian groups need to promote wider dialogue and cooperation among all believers belonging to various religious affiliations", insisted the Bishop.

The programme was organized by United Christian Forum of Bellary. Over 70 priests, pastors and congregation leaders participated.

Rev Samuel Vatsa, Fr Ivan Pinto, Pastor John Mark, Raju Balaraju, Pastor Prabhakar, Pastor Devanand Pastor S. Prabhakar, Y. Joseph, Ignaci, and others led the worship and shared Christmas messages.
